Baku City Circuit

Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The Baku City Circuit is one of Formula 1’s most dramatic and unpredictable street tracks. Set against the historic backdrop of Azerbaijan’s capital, the circuit winds through the heart of Baku, combining modern city boulevards with tight, medieval streets around the UNESCO-listed Old City. Since joining the Formula 1 calendar in 2016, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has quickly gained a reputation for producing chaotic and thrilling races, where safety cars, surprise podiums, and last-lap battles are never far away.

The track itself is a unique challenge for drivers. Measuring just over six kilometers, it is one of the longest circuits in Formula 1 and features the fastest street circuit speeds on the calendar. The narrow castle section around Turns 8 to 11 is famously tight, demanding incredible precision as cars squeeze between ancient stone walls. In contrast, the circuit’s enormous main straight—over two kilometers long—allows cars to reach extremely high speeds and creates some of the best overtaking opportunities in Formula 1.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has become known for its unpredictability and high drama. From unexpected crashes to spectacular comebacks, the race has delivered some of the most memorable moments in recent F1 history. Combined with the stunning setting along the Caspian Sea and the vibrant atmosphere of Baku, the event offers fans a unique blend of history, speed, and excitement that stands out on the Formula 1 calendar.
