Lusail International Circuit
Qatar Grand Prix
The Lusail International Circuit hosts the Qatar Grand Prix and has quickly become a distinctive venue on the Formula 1 calendar. Located just outside Doha, the circuit originally opened in 2004 as a MotoGP venue before welcoming Formula 1 for the first time in 2021. With its smooth asphalt, flowing layout, and modern facilities, Lusail provides a fast and technically demanding challenge for drivers and teams.
The circuit is characterized by a series of medium- and high-speed corners that reward precision and aerodynamic performance. Unlike many modern tracks, Lusail has relatively few heavy braking zones, meaning drivers must maintain rhythm and momentum throughout the lap. The long main straight provides one of the primary overtaking opportunities, while the sweeping corners test tire management and car balance over the course of a race distance.
The Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail is held under floodlights, creating a spectacular night-race atmosphere in the desert. With the illuminated circuit surrounded by the Doha skyline and desert landscape, the event offers a striking visual setting for Formula 1. Combined with its fast-flowing layout and challenging conditions, Lusail has quickly established itself as a dramatic and exciting addition to the Formula 1 season.
