Interlagos - Autódromo José Carlos Pace

São Paulo Grand Prix

The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos, is one of Formula 1’s most iconic and historic circuits. Located in São Paulo, Brazil, the track has hosted countless legendary races since it first appeared on the F1 calendar in the 1970s. Renamed in honor of Brazilian driver José Carlos Pace, the circuit sits in a natural amphitheater that allows fans to see large portions of the track, creating an electric atmosphere whenever the São Paulo Grand Prix takes place.

Interlagos is famous for its challenging, old-school layout. The circuit runs in an anti-clockwise direction and features dramatic elevation changes, fast sweeping corners, and a long uphill run along the main straight. Key sections such as the Senna S, the high-speed Curva do Sol, and the technical infield demand precision and bravery from drivers. Combined with often unpredictable weather conditions, the track regularly produces exciting races filled with strategy changes and wheel-to-wheel battles.

The São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos has delivered some of the most unforgettable moments in Formula 1 history, including championship-deciding finales and dramatic last-lap battles. The passion of Brazilian fans, the unique layout of the circuit, and the intense racing it produces make Interlagos one of the true classics of the Formula 1 calendar and a favorite among drivers and fans alike.
